“Three of us and only one of you. You really think you could get all three of us if we touch him? Besides, we won’t hurt him. He’s too useful for that.” One of them stated, arms going around Seth’s waist with a smirk on his lips knowing Elliot couldn’t shoot him without hurting Seth. “I’d love to use him in ways you could never imagine.” His smirk widened, licking his lips. “Too bad I’m not able to do that right now.” He moved to press a kiss against Seth’s cheek. “But once we’re back, I might just be the one to break him for leaving.”
Elliot felt a surge of confidence when the one speaking didn’t realize who he was. Which meant they were only there for Seth, and likely very low level among the family he and Seth had fled. The family still believed he was dead. His lips curved and he gave a smirk. He growled as the one talking kissed Seth, giving a light chuckle. “You know, for a second I thought they’d sent someone smart. Someone who knew what to expect. It would have made this at least a little more fun.” he said, taking another step forward. “But you’re just a group of low level junkies looking to impress big boss with bringing back one person.” He let his eyes flicker beneath the dim lights so Seth could see them – just a trick of the light to the three attackers – and moved to strike, two shots into one as he vanished and snapped the neck of the other before appearing behind the one holding Seth, blade pressed hard against his back. “See, taking back both of us would have been better for you. But now you have one chance to rethink your choice or I’ll cut you down like the scum you are and I won’t even blink.” he said in a dangerous tone. “Let. Him. Go. Now.”
Peter knew he wasn’t in a decent enough condition to do much of anything, and the majority of the pack had yielded and done everything they could. It was just after Seth had left that Terra had gone to the room, being timid in her approach so as not to alert Peter too soon. “Peter, I’m going after Seth.” She said simply, moving to lay a hand on his shoulder to stop him as he moved to stand, eyes flaring red at the words, as if the wolf already knew. “Down, Fido.” she said sternly, her eyes lighting in their own bicolored red and orange. “Stay with Malia. Seth is safe with me.” she assured. “I’ll bring him home.”
Peter stared at her fr a long moment, and she could sense the conflict in him – to go after his mate or stay with his daughter – and it tore her apart to see him so upset. After a long moment, he took a shaky breath. “Please bring him home.” his voice was soft, wolf strung tight through his body as he wanted so badly to have Seth there with him.
Terra nodded once, heading after the human with the ease of a fox, keeping far enough away to stay off his radar until he began to slow down. “You planning on dying tonight to avenge her?” she asked softly, appearing a few feet behind him.
Seth rolled his eyes. He should have known he wouldn’t get to far without being caught by someone. “Terra.” He replied, turning to face her. Seth shook his head at her question. “Of course not. I wouldn’t do that to them. Besides, don’t you usually avenge someone after they’re dead? Malia is very much alive.”
Seth kicked at a rock. “I’m guessing you’re here to take me back? We need more humans, you know? Level my playing field a bit.” Not like he truly needed it. He knew if it came down to it, he could wipe out a few of his own before being brought down, but thankfully it hadn’t come down to that since he’d been with them and he was sure it never would. “I’m not going back. Go home and tell him you couldn’t find me or something.”
The little hybrid gave a soft chuckle. “She is alive, but it’s touch and go.” She watched him a moment, sighing. “I’m not necessarily here to take you back, Seth. I’m here to keep you safe.” she explained. “Peter is…extremely close to losing control. The others can sense it through him, which is the reason for the change in atmosphere you’ve clearly noticed.” she answered, moving to stand beside him. “I’ve known Peter his whole life, though I don’t look it. And I know that the pack was once all human, with a select few woles and the occasional druid and fox. Most of the pack was human. Then they realized they were more durable as wolves, and asked to be turned. Peter’s never just offered the bite up to anyone, no matter what they say.” She lifted a hand, a little flame appearing and flickering in her palm. Hazel eyes stared at it as it formed various shapes, not looking at Seth.
“Peter made a vow to never ask it of anyone after his nephew’s first love didn’t survive.” It was grounds for a fight to bring up Derek’s lost love, but she didn’t care at the moment. “Paige was his mate, and losing her changed him in ways that ended up deadly. IT’s a guilt Peter has carried for years, a guilt that made him vow he would never inquire it of anyone ever again. You changed that, and I don’t know how or why. Which makes me suspect that losing you would cause a similar change in Peter.” A frown creased full lips, hazel eyes swirling their two separate colors. “If it’s more humans you want to balance the supernatural playing field, it’s not hard to get them. The city is better off with the Crimson King’s gang than without it, I promise.” she went quiet for a moment. “They love you, Seth. And Malia may not act ike it, but if she were to cause her father any kind of pain, she’d feel guilty. Coming out of the poisoning alone will cause a bit of a mess, but to lose her best friend and future stepfather because of the atmosphere around you?”
it was something about the way that stiles had called him an alpha that really got the other going. the corners of his lips snaking up into a devious smirk before he was closing the distance between them, pushing the other up against the wall. his lips had easily found the others, a very faint growl coming from him then. “say it again.” peter had managed to get out while his hands were pushing up on stiles’ shirt, referring to him calling him an alpha once again.
Stiles hadn’t been the same since the nogitsune, and he knew it. HE’d ventured close to darkness, seen the ash colored shades he was in and found a way out of it. He’d changed in a lot of ways, but also a big portion of him had decided to stop hiding the part of him that made him unique. He’d never seen in the same shades of black and white as Scott, and the nogitsune had proved that. So when he was drawn to Peter once again, he didn’t ignore it. And that was how he was pinned, practically purring at the way Peter manhandled him. “Fuck me like the alpha we both know you are. Be my alpha.” he half panted as he returned the kiss, reaching to wrap his arms around Peter’s neck.
Seth knew he wouldn’t be affected the same way as the others. And maybe that’s why he vouched to himself for the most part to stay human. It – in a way – gave him an advantage the others didn’t have. It wasn’t like him to sit back and let things happen when he could do something about it and when it happened to someone he actually cared about? He hadn’t even bothered to try talking to Peter since Malia was brought in. Hadn’t even attempted going into the room. Leaving had been rather easy since everyone else had been so easy. Sure, he could leave any time he wanted, but knew Peter and even the others preferred him going with someone else. But this was important to him. He knew exactly who to go after.
“Don’t tell Peter I’m leaving. If I’m not back in four hours… Just… Just tell him I couldn’t do this anymore.”
