“They think you’re a threat because of who your parents are and because of you busting your ass at being the best.” Seth smiled softly. “And yeah, people should think of you as a threat. You could wipe the world without a second thought if you really wanted to do so. But you won’t. You’re too good. And you shouldn’t be sorry, Ana. Never apologize for who you are.”

“The only threat is if someone tries to hurt me. And then it’s not even me they need to worry about.” Ana gave a little grin, remembering the story of how her father’s had been so furious they’d almost ended up on trial in their demands for her and her brother to be allowed to stay in New York. She looked up at him, her glamour fading back into place and she smiled softly. “Thank you, Seth. You’re a good person.”

Seth chuckled, shaking his head. “I’m not giving up anything. It’s not like I’ve got a line of people waiting to date me.” He shrugged before frowning a bit and grabbing her hand in his own. “Hey. Don’t think like that. First off, why would anyone not want to marry you? You’re a remarkable woman and truly lovely. Any guy should be honored to actually be with you. Second, this won’t be for nothing. Everything’s going to be just fine.” He promised, though really he wasn’t sure of that.

Ana gave a little chuckle. “Im a hybrid that everyone thinks is a threat. Like I’m going to go insane and kill everyone. I bust my ass more than anyone else and I’m the best but not everyone is okay with that.” She took a slow breath and closed her eyes for a moment, letting her glamour fall so the silver eye was visible for opening them; two toned eyes watching Seth for a moment. “There’s a reason the Clave wanted someone as good as me to be the one to marry me. It doesn’t mean I’m not sorry, though.” She shrugged a little. “I hope you’re right.” her voie was quiet as she looked at the ring on her finger, wondering what would happen next for them.

“He sounds like a good man. And they really do mean well, so don’t ever forget that, okay?” Alec knew that his siblings appreciated that he looked out for them, even if he could be snappy from time to time. Nodding, he said, “Yeah. Isabelle Lightwood. I’m guessing you’ve heard of her, huh? She’s known for her talent with the whip and she’s good at getting information.” Sometimes he didn’t approve of her methods, but she still always got the information they needed. “Follow me. She’s in the weapons room. Maybe if you ask really nicely, she’ll show you a trick or two with her whip.” And if she really wanted to see it, he’d show his bow as well. Alec stood up and gestured for her to follow him. “This way.”

“Daddy and Papa both are. I don’t know what I’d do without them.” Ana said, missing her world a little more. She gave a grin and nodded. “I’ve heard stories. She’s a force on her own.” It was a fact she knew well, but she needed to keep a tighter hold on her words. She didn’t know how anyone would react to her accidentally being outed as Alec and Magnus’ daughter. The last thing she wanted was another stint in the holding cell in the basement of the Institute, once as a kid was enough. She smiled and moved to follow after him, enjoying the fact that even in this world, her father still cared about everyone. “So Izzy is the whip person, Jace is the best with basic seraph blades, and you’re the one with the bow, right?” she asked, moving to walk beside him. “Archers are rare in our line of work. What made you pick a bow?”

“It’s fine. I don’t mind helping, you know? Besides, it could be worse. All we have to do is pretend to be married when people are around. The rest of the time? We can ignore each other. Depending on where we stay, my place is big enough we probably will only bump into each other around dinner time.” Seth shrugged as he sat down. “What’s scaring you?”

Ana watched him for a moment, dark eyes vulnerable. “Seth…I hate that you have to give up your life for this.” She frowned as he sat next to her, staring at her hands. “That’s what it is, and I don’t want you to feel like you have to ignore me. I know I’m probably the last person anyone would want to marry, but I’d still like to try and be friends.” She was quiet for a long moment after his question, hands wringing a little. “I’m scared this will be for nothing. And that thought…terrifies me.”

“I don’t believe I have a reason not to trust you. But don’t worry, I know. I agreed to this, after all. And I don’t really like agreeing to things like this. Your father knows that. But… I will happily go through with this. I mean it’s what’s best for you and your brother after all.”

Ana looked up at him, letting her glamour fall for a moment to reveal one silver cat eye. She was quiet as she watched him before her glamour returned, and she looked at her hands, fingers brushing over the love rune she’d been born with. “I wish you didn’t have to agree. I wish the Clave didn’t see Tara and I as a risk. But it’s gonna take time.” She sighed. “But I’m still scared.”

“So you’re the one I’m supposed to marry.” Ana said, crossing her arms. The Clave had officially pissed her off, but she was going to make the best of her situation. “I’m Anabel. Most people call me Ana. By now I’m guessing you realize who my fathers are.” (Have an arranged marriage thing cuz why tf not? 💞)

sttormsofnight:

“Supposed to. Doesn’t mean we have to.” Seth corrected before nodding as he looked her over. “Y-Yeah. I know them.” He still thought this was anything but a good idea. Though he truly believed people should have a choice in who they married – but unfortunately most people hadn’t gotten with the times yet and still chose to enforce arranged marriages.

“We don’t have to, but my brother and I don’t have much choice. I marry you or we end up in the Silent City. Clave doesn’t really like hybrids.” The half warlock sighed and moved to sit on the couch, running her hand through her hair. “Dad says you’re a good guy, though. So if he’s willing to trust you, I’ll trust you. But you have to trust me, too. Deal?”

Alec

“It sounds like they are good teachers,” Alec replied with a smile. He noticed her frown and wondered what that was about. If she wanted to talk to him about it then he knew that she would. He was still curious about where this girl came from, but had a feeling that it was a long story that they wouldn’t have the time for. “Thank you. That really means a lot. And I hope it’s true.” He wanted to marry Magnus, to have children with him and a long life together. Max and Raf, Alec wondered at the names. Was she someone he might know, but didn’t remember? Because Max was the name of his little brother and he supposed it was common enough, but Raf was short for Raphael, right? “You know, sometimes people take the role of big brother even when they don’t have to. It sounds like Tara looks out for you well. I’d hold onto that if I were you. And it does sound like that. Family is important. Don’t ever forget that. I’m sure that all of your brothers and your fathers care a lot about you too.” Then, thinking of something else, he added, “You might like to meet my sister Isabelle. She’s the only girl in a family surrounded by boys too. Well, there’s our mom, our parents are in Idris a lot. And anyway, my sister is tough like you too. You two would probably get along if you’d like me to introduce you to her.”

The hybrid smiled at him. “I know it is.” Ana said confidently. Each day was getting harder to hide who she was and she knew it that, but it wasn’t like she could figure out a way back either. Dark eyes watched him before she laughed. “Papa says that all the time. Since I’m the only girl, they all have to look out for me.” she laughed a little as she hopped down, moving her arm to make sure it was alright before her eyes lit up. “You mean Isabelle?” she asked, fighting to contain her excitement. She had loved the stories of her aunt when Izzy had been younger, listening to the laughter and comments as the family had told stories. “I’d love to meet her.” she said, nodding.

Ana’s Verses

Main [ book of the white nephilim;; main Ana ]

When Alec went under to save Jace, Magnus used a risky last resort to bring him back. The spell didn’t just bring Alec back, but Anabel and her twin brother Tarael were created as well. Ana has an affiliation with electricity and can handle runes on her skin. Her left eye is a silver cat eye that he glamours.

Child [ hybrid baby;; child Ana ]

As a kid, Ana has a love of piano, food, and watching her family train. She’s never far without her favorite toy penguin.

Human [ no angel gifts;; human Ana ]

Without any kind of angel blood, Ana focuses on helping her fathers out and learning hand to hand with her aunts and uncles, never one to back down.

Warlock vs. Nephilim [ warlock twin reversal;; warlock Ana ]

A role reversal between Ana and her twin brother, Tara. Ana has the magical tendencies of a warlock instead of her brother.

Alec [ @bowstrung ]

“Yeah? That’s really good of them. I’m glad they want to help train you.” He smiled a little and nodded in understanding. “Yes, the same goes for me as well. I wouldn’t change my job for anything. You keep up an attitude like that and you’ll have a better time with it all.” He nearly reached out, but thought better of it and brought his hand back to his side. “I’m sure you do enough. What you can do is better than nothing at all. And even then, sometimes nothing is okay too, so long as you’ve tried.” He hoped that was good advice, that it would give her enough encouragement to continue trying to be the best Shadowhunter that she could be. “That’s okay. Not everyone likes to use them.” They had healers in case they wanted to do that instead. He lifted a brow, but didn’t question her further. Sometimes he did get questions about his relationship, but never once like that. Alec’s cheeks warmed some and a smile appeared on his face. “Well, thank you. You know I never thought I’d find anyone until he came along and change my mind on a lot of things. I don’t think I’d be where I am now if it weren’t for Magnus. And I now believe that anyone can find love, so long as they’re patient enough and are willing to work for it. We most certainly have had our ups and downs, but it’s been worth it.”

Ana smiled. “Papa and Daddy help, too. Daddy insisted Tara and I learn things hand to hand just in case.” Her smile faded a little as she spoke of her brother, looking down for a moment. She bit her lip a little, not sure she should explain that the iratze worked, it just took longer because she wasn’t all shadowhunter. Not like he was. That conversation didn’t end well in her head and she shook it to clear the idea of it from her mind. Hearing her father – what should have been her father – talk about the other father made her smile. She’d been young during the earlier years of her fathers’ relationship, but she remembered the big events. Like her little brothers – Rafael and Max – being adopted. “You two are inspiring, I promise. I think you’ll have a good life together.” she answered, waiting a moment and gathering some courage before speaking up again. “My dads, they adopted two of my brothers. Tara and I are twins, but he always acted a little older than me. I don’t know ow to explain it, but Max and Raf we took to so easy, it was like we were all meant to be one big family.” She only ever talked about her brothers by name, never her adult family members.
