The evening had encompassed the day, forcing everyone to take shelter for the time being. Juniper, although struggling to keep her eyes open, was worried about Thor. He had expended so much of himself today, and Juniper was concerned that he was drained. Silently, she following him to the rooftop where he sat down peering over the vastness around him. He looked exhausted to say the least, something Juniper has never seen in Thor before. He continued to speak in hushed tones, and she wondered if she really should be encroaching in on this seemingly intimate moment.

His words were soft yet still seemed strong for Thor. It wasn’t like him to have a moment of silence, but in this instance it merited it. Juniper took this as her opportunity to interrupt. “Thor, your highness.”

She paused, waiting for him to turn around. “I don’t mean to intrude, I just wanted to check up on you. Are you alright?”

Thor looked up as the girl spoke, giving a little smile. “Little magician,” he mused, moving to pat the ground beside him as he sat overlooking the area. “We have all lost a lot this day. My brother was among the first to fall in Thanos’ rampage of the realm.” He looked back up at the sky, eyes tired as he watched the stars. “I was praying for their rest, for the strength to continue when our next battle is to be fought.”

Juniper couldn’t quite grasp the entire concept that Tony has conceived. That’s why he is the mastermind and she was just someone in the foreground. Truthfully, she lived a simple life. Her adoptive father worked in an office, and her adoptive mother stayed home with them. Creativity and innovation wasn’t part of the norm. “Why do you need that? Isn’t what you have now state of the art?” She questioned, rather intrigued by Tony’s need for the best.

Tony shrugged. “I design the best. And when I find a small thing to fix, I fix it right away. Keeps everyone safer and makes it easier to go into a fight if I know everything is as good as it can be.” he explained. “I’m a bit of a perfectionsit, as I’m sure you’ve noticed by now.”

Juniper felt guilty. She couldn’t help it that her empathic ways drew her into him tonight, a night he probably would have sat drowning in his own guilt and anger. She decided that now would be the perfect time to really explain herself to him – hopefully to supply some relief to his incessant feelings. “It doesn’t. I am sure by now that you have figured out I am not like everyone else. Yes, I am an empathe, meaning I can sense other’s feelings. I have been this way for a long time Steve, and I have seen many, many different emotions. I have felt them all. That’s why I wanted to be here with you tonight. No one should have to be alone, feeling the way you are.” she explains, her tone soft and endearing.

Her hand stretched out gently, and encompassed as much of his in her own as she could. It was an innocent gesture, but one to make him feel less alone, less lost. She wanted him to know that it was alright to feel, and that it was better to let it out than bottle it up. Juniper would stay as long as she felt necessary, even if it meant making herself comfortable in his chair while he rested that night.

Steve looked at her as she spoke. “That may be true, but doesn’t it make it harder to concentrate since I feel my emotions much stronger? Or is it just a normal feeling?” he asked, tilting his head as blue eyes watched her. “I feel this way every now and again. Losing the last tangible lead on Bucky…it hurts.” he replied. He wanted so badly to try and explain why it hurt so much, the love he’d lost, the brother he’d never had buried beneath whatever conditioning that made him a mindless pawn, the memories that Bucky didn’t have anymore even though he was alive. The entirety of the situation made Steve feel a lot of things, and sometimes he wished he could just keep it all in forever.

Feeling her hand on his, he looked down, turning it over to let their palms touch. Juniper was innocent in some ways, but she still understood. It was weird to have someone so open to trying to understand what it was he was feeling. “…Thank you, June.” he murmured, leaning to kiss her head. “Not being alone in this makes me feel a little better.”

Her head tilted into his touch as his fingers grazed against the sensitive skin of her neck. She swallowed thickly, wishing that it was his lips instead of her fingers. “Show me your kingdom, my King.”

Juniper allowed her hand to tenderly fall to his chest, feeling the rhythmic swell as he breathed. This made her realize the vast difference between the two of them. Loki is tall, slender, yet powerful. His posture held the confidence of a King, which towered over her. She was petite, innocent, and much more shy than he was. She felt almost childish standing next to him, yet her touch was anything but childish. In one swift motion, she leans in close and presses her lips to the junction of his neck and jaw. Her lips places soft, wet kisses to his neck, having to stand on her tip toes to reach.

Loki chuckled quietly as he watched her, green eyes curious as to what the energy he could sense from her was. A power he had sensed before, but in his many centuries, he had learned that the sense of power he got could feel similar but be a different kind of ability. He knew he was tall compared to most Midgardians, but this little one intrigued him a great deal. He tilted his head as she called him King, giving a little smile. “Technically I was supposed to be, even though I was a runt in my homeland.” he explained. “How did you know?”

The difference in their height was much more prominent once she was close enough to kiss his neck. It was the first time someone had been so aware of his power and yet…unafraid. “My little vixen,” he murmured, leaning down to return the gesture, lips ghosting over her pulse. “You have quite the charm.”

Juniper could feel his desperation radiating off of him in waves, she didn’t need to hold his hand to know that he was distraught. “Well good thing I was here to make it up for you then. You know they say you sleep better when your bed is made.” she comments, attempting to lighten the mood.

Steve continued to skulk though, and that concerned her. Since she met him, Steve was this happy go lucky kind of guy, typically burying down his feelings for the sake of others. Here he was comfortable enough to let go, probably realizing Juniper was capable of incepting his feeling anyways.

“I’m sorry about him Steve. I know how much he means to you. We’ll find him though, I just feel it.”

Juniper never made empty promises.

Steve wasn’t sure when he had figured out that Juniper had some sixth sense when it came to emotions. IT was just a knowledge he had one day, with no real time frame as to when he figured it out. Hiding his emotions was pointless around her, and he’d learned she wasn’t willing to ignore when she felt someone was off. So it made sense that she was here now, when he was letting himself feel in the amplified way he did since the serum. He managed a weak chuckle at her words, taking another drink from the tumblr and reaching across to set it down on the nightstand.

“I know you do.” he answered after a long moment. “I don’t know why you seem so attuned to me, June. I just know that you don’t get angry that I have other emotions than strategy and happiness. But I feel emotions on a higher level than most people, it can be rough from time to time and I’m sorry if that throws you off.”

Juniper jolts awake from the feeling of someone’s fingers slipping into her hair, followed by a raspy, but familiar voice. With half lidded eyes, she smiles up at Steve who finally has a bit of color to his cheeks. “Steve, you are up.” she hums.

She half thought to go get the others to let them know that Steve had finally woken, but deep down she wanted to be selfish for just a few moments and enjoy it being just the two of them. Her hand reaches over to his and gives it a comforting squeeze. “How are you feeling?”

Steve chuckled weakly as she jumped, but seeing her relax made it easier to focus on what she was saying versus the pain that ached along his body. “Like I got hit by a truck.” he grimaced. “How long have I been out? You look like a mess. Have you been here the whole time I was out?” he asked, frowning a little. He adjusted a little so the pain in his chest eased up, then looked back at her. “How’s the team?”

Her cheeks glows as she leans into his tender touch. He wasn’t entirely wrong. Juniper did have a ‘distinct power’ as he put it, and she tried her best to keep it tucked away until she truly needed it. She didn’t want to intrude on her feelings at this very moment, rather she wanted him to slowly reveal them. “Very perceptive of you Loki.” she says, trailing her finger down the length of the leather on his chest.

“I am perceptive in many ways, my lovely little Juniper.” Loki hummed. “My magic is very sensitive. It lets me know when people are more than what they seem.” Green eyes wandered over her form as they stood in his room. “Can I make you comfortable at all?” he asked, fingers brushing along the side of her neck. “Would you like to look around?”

She watches contently as Thor begins to thread to the remaining survivors, checking for any serious injuries. Amongst those who remain are Steve and Natasha. Instinctively, they all begin to do the same as Thor, tending to any serious issues. For the most part people were just confused, the occasional bleeding wound. That’s where Juniper came in. Her healing powers were sufficient enough to heal up all of the major injuries that people presented with.

“Okay, I think that is all the injured.” She says, wiping her hands off on her black jeans.

Once again, she watches as the Asgardian prince asks everyone if they are okay, much sincerity laced in his voice. It came naturally to him, probably from the manner in which he was raised.

Thor helped where he could, helping get everyone inside the compound to assess the number of casualties. When night fell, everyone was given quarters and Thor found his way to the roof, where he sat on the edge and stared out at the land, eyes glancing up at the sky as well. The toll had been vast and he hoped he could find the strength to continue the fight where he and his brother had left off. “Father…mother…Loki…” he said, staring at the sky. “Give me strength from Valhalla, there is still another battle to fight.”
