Steven Grant Rogers, head of the Rogers Family in New York, stepped in front of the mirror and nodded to himself as he checked out the latest suit from his designers. It was perfect. The soft gray Armani fit him like a glove in all the right places. The blue silk shirt and matching tie beneath brought out the tanned skin and blue eyes. Dark polished shoes finished the ensemble and Steve smiled at the older man that stood next to him.
“It’s perfect, Lou. Beautiful job as always. If you could get me three more, in navy blue, black, and charcoal gray, same cut and style?”
“Of course, Mr. Rogers,” Lou said, quickly making notes on a small tablet. “I can have them for you by next week.” Steve smiled.
“Excellent. Thanks.” The man nodded and left Steve to himself as he continued looking over himself in the mirror. Not that he was alone by any means. His guards stood near the entrance of the store as always. Finally, he stepped down from the elevated mirror and went to get changed. He came back out a few minutes later in his usual Saturday clothes – dark jeans, crimson button down shirt, and leather jacket – and took the suit back to the older man.
“I’ll send one of my guys to pick everything up from you later today, yeah?”
“Of course….”
Steve walked outside as a few children came running up to him. He smiled and nodded to one of the guards who handed him a bag.
“All right, all right. You’ve all been good this week? No talking back to Moms and Dads and staying in school right?”
“Yes, sir!” came the chorus of replies. Steve grinned as he reached into the bag and brought out several different presents for each of the kids before sending them on their way and handing the empty bag back to his guard. As they got to the car, Steve slid into the back and sighed heavily.
“Where too, Boss?” Clint asked him from the front seat.
“The Tower, Clint. I need to check in and make sure everything is going well over there…”
Disowned son of the Laufeyson family Loki had abandoned his homeland and come to the US, and had found a nice home among the Rogers family as an undercover. Sly and quick witted, Loki could talk them out of any bad situation and today was no different. He had finished his particular work and was in the main office waiting for his boss to arrive. HE leaned back against the couch, reading a book harmlessly. He didn’t often feel the need to come in before Steve arrived, but there was something he wanted to ask and he knew that the only place he and Steve would be alone was in the main office.
