I live in New York and I love it, because it doesn’t make me feel like my life is always just about acting and that world of acting. I don’t have expectations.
Loki narrowed his eyes slightly, but sat down also. “What is on sitting so heavily on your mind?” He asked, watching Bucky. The god understood being controlled and used. The only difference was originally he’d been made to want it.
Bucky shrugged. “Sometimes remembering just takes a toll, Loki.” He replied quietly, blue eyes not near as clear as they should be. “And still not knowing what can trigger the Soldier makes days like today feel off. I’m still learning who I was and what I am now.” He fell quiet as he leaned back, blue eyes closing as he sighed out a breath. “Being cooped up in the tower makes it worse.” He finally added. “So I take walks from time to time just to keep from going more insane than I already feel.”
Juniper couldn’t hold back the blush that was creeping up on her cheeks. Typically her and Steve snuck around, hiding their connection from everyone else. The fact that they had been caught in the action was enough to cause her embarrassment. Both her and Steve were rather reserved people. Her hand daintily covers her mouth as a gasp escapes her lips.
“You saw us?” she chuckles. “What exactly did you… see?”
Her and Steve had had plenty of encounters in different hallways when no one was around. Generally they made sure that the majority of people were away on a mission or out for the night before they were all ‘lovey-dovey’ with each other outside of their quarters.
Bucky laughed a little. “You’re redder than Steve was when I told him.” He mused, crossing his arms as he leaned back in his chair. “I saw enough to know I didn’t need to interrupt.” He reached for his cup, taking a slow drink before setting it down. “Nothing serious, mostly little whispers and kisses.” He promised. “I know Steve doesn’t usually want his private life out in the open, so I kept my mouth shut to everyone but you two.”
Steve grinned at Bucky, he was excited too. They’d finally get to enjoy having a daughter together like they’d talked about for so long. And she was so lovely too, with her blue eyes and brown hair
Bucky paused when Steve said nothing and opted to just watch him and smile. “Did we miss anything? We got everything done, right?” He asked, moving to stand behind Steve and rest his chin on his shoulder.
Steve hummed softly as Bucky tugged him closer. “m’kay,” he answered, unable to really deny Bucky anything as he slid off the stool and walked back to their bedroom with him. He crawled back into bed and tugged Bucky close once he was in bed as well. He curled up against him, laying his head on the other’s chest and holding him close. “Love you, Bucky…”
Bucky made sure the warm was comfortable for them, holding Steve close and leaning to kiss Steve’s temple. “Love ya, too, Stevie. Get some sleep, you really do need it.” He urged, one hand moving to pet through blonde hair. “I’ll be here when you wake up, I swear.” He promised, closing his eyes. It was oddly reminiscent of the days before his fall, when he would sneak to Steve’s quarters and hold him close because Steve was the only thing he knew was real for a while before the missions needed him. He lay quietly for a few minutes before he started humming an old song, one he used to sing when all they had was a rundown kitchen to dance in when they weren’t struggling to make ends meet.
“Is that a challenge…?” Ruby waved her hand, silently asking for a name from him. Crimson lips curls into a cheeky grin, eyes closing as she took a deep breath in. To anyone else it would appear as though she was enjoying the fresh air, the truth was she was taking in his scent. Ruby had a keen nose, it was the wolf in her, and her wolf was usually pretty good at picking out how they liked their drinks. With a hum her eyes opened once more. “I’m getting dark chocolate, rich and slightly bitter, with a hint of chili. You also seem like you’d prefer cherry but usually end up ordering the apple pie.”
“Bucky,” the brunette replied. Bucky was doing better around people, but on days like today, he couldn’t really handle the crowds and loud noise, so he’d gone for a walk in the park, and then headed home when he spotted the cafe and decided he could handle people if it meant a warm meal. He arched a brow at her guess, the closest he came to being impressed. “The question is if you can beat Steve’s.” he grinned, ignoring the pie comment. It had been a while since he let himself have any kind of pie, but he was slowly returning to some state of normal.
Steve watched him for a moment before he finally gave in and nodded slowly. “I… have some things where I”ve been staying. I’d like to get them before… we got to your place.” He pulled out his wallet to settle his tab so they could go.
Bucky nodded as Steve agreed. “We can swing by and pick your things up. I do have an apartment away from the tower where I usually stay, so we’ll go there until you think you’re ready to try the tower.”
