Stiles jumped at Derek’s voice. He’d been lost in his own thoughts. He wasn’t expecting Derek to be home. “Uh… yeah… yeah, I’m fine… just… long day,” he answered, dragging a hand through his hair. “I’m… I’m gonna go shower…”
There’d been someone new at the school and Stiles didn’t feel comfortable at all with the guy’s leering looks or finding any excuse to get too close to him. He was… different. Stiles’ magic had not liked him at all and Stiles had gotten to the point that he listened to that spark inside of himself, as both Deaton and Peter had often told him to do.
He didn’t want to worry Derek, though, with Peter out of town on business, Derek was the one in charge…
Derek didn’t need to be an alpha to hear and scent the offness of his younger mate. He tilted his head, getting up to walk over to Stiles. “Hey, what happened?” he asked. “And don’t lie, you know I can tell when you lie, even if I couldn’t hear your heartbeat.” he replied, reaching to run a hand through Stiles’ hair.
