“There will never be anythin’ borin’ about me, or us. I promise you that.” Tristan laughed, shrugging as he reached to adjust the mirror. “I’ll leave you a couple. That’s only fair.” He leaned over and petted the top of her head like a puppy, smirking softly. He knew it wound her up every time he’d mess up her hair, so of course he took an extra second to do just that. “Stop knowin’ me so well. I hate it.”

With that, he started the engine, and set off towards the back streets. Once he was off campus, he hated driving on the main roads, which was something he’d always avoided – though he never really knew why. “The track team is lovely, don’t get me wrong. But I’ve made more decisions in life, an’ I reckon they’re a little too young for me. I need someone at least…” He paused as he pretended to think about it. “Twice my age.”

Lucy gave a smirk at his response. “Well, I’m glad there’s no intention of changing that aspect. I’d be highly disappointed.” She leaned back and crossed her arms, relaxing once they were off major roads. There was an aversion to those since most kidnappings started there and moved elsewhere.
“Just a couple? I demand at least six.” she countered in a playfully haughty voice. She gave a little yelp as he messed up her hair, pouting at him as she reached up to fix the lovely waves. “What’s a best friend for, huh?” she reached over to nudge his shoulder. “You know me pretty damn well, too, y’know.”

“I doubt my dad falls into that category, but points for having good taste.” Lucy replied, glad to have someone who respected her father so publicly around. A bright laugh escaped her. “So what colors should we buy? I’m thinking something that reacts to black light.” she mused, grinning as they drove.

“Lucy, darlin’.” Tristan laughed, gesturing at the campus as they walked through it. “There’s ‘ow many men ‘ere? An’ I’m tryna get in all of their pants. So, yes, I would fuck your dad, an’ yes I ‘ave every intention of fuckin’ my professor, but there’s a whole world of good dick out there. I don’t like to limit myself to just one.” Dark, drawn-on brow raised as he stared down at her. “There’s nothin’ normal about you now, an’ I doubt you were a normal kid, either. A cute kid, though, I can believe.” After closing the car door behind her, Tristan walked over to the driver’s side, slipping into the seat. “As much as I love that car, I thought I’d leave it at home for your sake today. It’s adorable watchin’ you try an’ get in it, but we don’t ‘ave all the time in the world.”

Designer sunglasses were pushed back onto his face and he took a moment to check his appearance in the rearview mirror, smoothing over his hair and re-applying the lipstick he was wearing. “Of course we do. Anythin’ for you, my dear.”

The little blonde almost doubled over in laughter. “Well, one thing is for sure. With a big brother like you, life is never ever boring.” she grinned, covering her mouth with her hand as she laughed again. She rolled her eyes. “And what if I wanted some, huh? Don’t go ruining it for me, now. Leave me a pretty one…or three.” she joked. Rolling hazel eyes, she gave an unbelieving little hum of approval. “Sure you did. You knew the track team is practicing and wanted something to look good in while you watched them run by in their very small shorts and leer.” She was teasing, of course, having sat with Tristan several times to watch them run by and take dibs from time to time. Lucy didn’t much like the jocks, so she didn’t usually pick any. But she knew the type Tris liked, so she usually called dibs on ones she knew he’d protest for.

She smiled at him as he primped himself up again. “What can I say? I’m a princess in my own right.” she teased with a shrug and a laugh.

Tristan

“We’ve discussed this, babe. The idea of your dad gets me off. Doesn’t matter what he’s doin’.” Stupid grin as he looked down at her, gently brushing a strand of hair from her face and tucking it behind her ear. He was well known for his taste for older men, and teasing Lucy about her father? Too easy. Like shooting fish in a barrel. “Of course I do. You’re the little sister I always wanted, but I got to skip the gross lookin’ after you as a kid bit. That bit always sounded awful.” Arm stayed around her shoulders, keeping her close as they walked out of the building, directing her towards where he’d illegally (as always) parked.

Tristan laughed, nudging her back. “Don’t worry. I’d make sure you weren’t home. I wouldn’t do that to your innocent little self.” He stopped when they reached his car, opening the passenger door for her. “Yeah, sounds great. You’re always free to crash at my place.”

Lucy laughed out loud and shook her head. “Only you would be turned on by the thought of my dad. Thought you were still trying to get into Professor Green’s pants?” she teased, smiling as he tucked some blonde hair behind her ear. Everyone seemed to think she didn’t look like either of her parents; but most people didn’t know her mother was a blonde and her hazel eyes were a mix of both parents. She liked having someone not care about her connections. Life as the daughter of the most dangerous man in Gotham could be lonely. “I was pretty normal as a kid, though. Except my thing for putting tutu on cars.” She laughed. There was still a picture in her room her aunt had taken of her as a kid with cars that had barbie tutus on them. “Oh, you brought the fancy one today.” she mused. “I don’t have to jump up into the hummer, that’s a change.” she said as she climbed in and set her bag at her feet.

“Thank you for the consideration.” she assured with a grin, leaning back in her seat. “We get pizza and soda for dinner, though.” she demanded with a grin.

Tristan

“You don’t know if I was scared to be your friend or not. Maybe I like the danger. Maybe it gets me off knowin’ daddy could ‘ave me killed at any minute.” Of course, Tristan’s… family that had a lot of financial tie-ins with Lucy’s, and they often made deals with the mafia, but that was a much bigger secret than Lucy’s identity. People feared Lucy, but Tristan? Seemingly harmless. That was exactly how he wanted it.

He laughed, standing and wrapping his arm around her shoulders. “Yeah, they’re not great at fakin’ it, are they? I feel bad for them. Shame, ‘cause I could definitely show ‘em what they’re missin’.” A shrug as he pondered the question for a moment. “Whichever room you want. Top floor is mine, but other than that, any.” He knew what Lucy was like; the second she walked into the right room, she’d know it was hers. And she’d immediately be planning exactly how she was going to rearrange.

“Come on. Let’s get you some coffee an’ a break from Mr. Grey back home.”

Lucy couldnt help but laugh at Tristan’s word choice. “So the idea of my dad coming an killing you gets you off? Tris, you have odd kinks.” She teased with a smile. “You’re safe, though. You protect me. Look out for me and make sure I stay fed and have fun even while I’m here doing all the school stuff.” She mused with a smile. “You’re the big brother I never had. Daddy knows that, and I think if someone hurt you, you’d be protected too. Daddy likes me happy, out of harm’s way. Its why he doesn’t come around personally except at night to deliver the presents.” She was glad she had Joker watching out for her, even if her mother worried over him finding Lucy.

She covered her mouth with her hand as Tristan made his comment. “I’m pretty sure I don’t want to hear you having sex, Tris. Please dont scar me like that.” She joked, nudging him as they walked. “Maybe we can stay there tonight, after we make the library pretty again.” She offered. “I can look around and see. Deal?”

Tris

Tristan leaned against Lucy, absentmindedly playing with her hair. “I’ll look after you no matter what. I know your dad doesn’t really need my help, but you mean a lot to me. It’d fuckin’ suck if somethin’ bad happened to ya.” He laughed softly. “Yeah but I didn’t, did I? Either drive-thru Starbucks or stop whinin’ about coffee, sunshine.” Long nail poked her back gently. “I know. But I love doin’ this shit.”

A smug grin as he looked down at her. “Tryna get you to move in so I don’t ‘ave to come to your dorm anymore. I try to sleep in an’ they’re loud as fuck. Do they not realise one in the afternoon is still prime sleepin’ time?” He feigned disgust, though he truly was sick of being woken by Lucy’s dormmates. “They absolutely suck.”

Lucy couldn’t help but laugh. “Yeah, Daddy doesn’t need a whole lot of help, but it’s nice that someone wasn’t scared to be my friend given my dad isn’t very…subtle in what happens to people to hurt me.” She explained, smiling just a little smugly. She didn’t always talk about her dad, most of the time she would have to be very careful about interacting with the King of Gotham’s Crime. She knew his goons paid attention though. Her presents were never generic by any means; but fit with her own likes as time went on. She kept every single one.

Blue eyes lifted and she smiled at him. “Maybe soon. I’m really getting tired of their amateur porn hour at all hours of the night when I have class.” she mused. “Which room would I be takin’?” she asked with a grin, moving to stand. “I’m not whining, but I could.” she teased, tucking her hands into her jacket. “They’re freshmen unfortunately. I’ll eb glad if next year I don’t have to deal with them.”

Tristan

“I might take ‘im up on that. Might help me sort out my daddy issues.” He paused, tilting his head to one side. “Or make ‘em worse. Probably make ‘em worse.” A laugh sounded in his throat, and he patted the top of her head softly. “I’ll get you one on the way out. It was cold as fuck by the time I got ‘ere anyway. You’d ‘ave only complained.” Tristan wrapped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her into another hug. “You know me so well, don’t ya?”

Quickly, he searched for a few things on his phone, pulling up an album and passing it over to Lucy. “You ain’t seen my new place yet, so ‘ere ya go. Couple pictures.” The album was full of photos of his new house, an impressive four-bedroom home a few miles from campus. It was decorated exactly how anyone that knew him would expect it to be – tacky and expensive, black velvet and silk, Gucci and Versace, and undeniably Tristan. “The top floor is all yours when you’re finally outta that dorm. Let’s ‘ead off now an’ beat the traffic.” He stood, holding his hand out towards her.

Lucy laughed. “I think I’m the only one Dad has any kind of open affection for these days.” she replied. “But no doubt he’d like you ‘cause you’re always there for me. He can’t be very open about it, in case someone thinks to try and overthrow him. He wants me less of a target and more of normal gal.” She gave a little smile. “Not if you’d brought me an iced coffee, silly.” she teased, poking his chest. One shoulder shrugs up innocently at his question. “I got a love of art, too, y’know.”

The blonde took the phone to slide her finger through the pictures. “Ohhh.” she grinned. “Trying to get me to move in to keep the stalkers away again?” she teased, giggling as she continued looking. “I may need to start planning on moving, the dorm is overrun with morons who don’t know what privacy is.”

Tristan

“Well, you’re my princess too, ain’t ya?” Sure, Tristan didn’t know everything about Lucy’s father, but he knew that the man would do anything to protect her, and he also knew he’d do exactly the same. He didn’t have to meet him to know he well and truly respected him.

Tristan shrugged, placing his now-empty coffee cup on the table as he turned his attention to the notebook. His fingers traced over the words as he read them. “Hm. I like it. Let’s do it.”

Graffiti had always been one of Tristan’s preferred things to do, combining his two favourite hobbies of fine art and being-a-complete-little-shit. And the campus had always been so dulllooking, a little extra colour here and there would do wonders for making it more exciting. The danger of getting caught always excited him, but sometimes it was even more fun when he knew they wouldn’t get caught. The staff would always know it was them, but with no evidence and no witnesses? There was nothing they could do about it.

“You know, speakin’ of your dorm room, we need to go shoppin’ soon. It’s super borin’ in there still.” Of course, any dorm room was boring. But Tristan would use any excuse to go shopping for expensive furniture, and it gave them more time together off-campus to make plans without anyone overhearing.

Lucy couldn’t help but grin, nodding. “Course I am, Tris. Why else would I have a big brother like you?” she teased, nudging him playfully. “Dad would totally adopt you just for always taking care of me.” Or at the very least let Tristan into the gang with ease. She tapped her pen on the empty cup as she let him look it over, grinning. “You didn’t bring me any coffee? I should cry.” she said with a laugh. Her eyes lit up as he agreed to it, smirking. “Perfect. I thought you’d like a new art project.”

She was reaching to close her notebook and put it in her bag when he spoke up about her dorm room, and she grinned even wider, knowing there were two reasons for it. “Yeah, I haven’t felt the need to spruce it up, yet. Maybe we can find something this time.” she offered. “I mean, I have one of the best people to help pick stuff out, so why waste the opportunity?” A shrug moved her shoulders and she moved to stand up. “Shall we head out? We may take a while on this shopping trip.”

Tristan

As much as Tristan truly loved what he did, college life was boring to him. Besides his classes, he lacked any real pastimes. Which is why, when he’d heard rumours that Lucy Quinnzel had recently started attending the same university as him, he’d gone out of his way to find her. And it turned out that they got on like a house on fire.

It didn’t take long for him to become protective of her, seeing her as the little sister he’d always wanted. People seemed to be interested in her for her money and connections, but that had never bothered Tristan. He had his own.

Maybe that was why they got on so well. Or maybe it was the way they both loved to cause trouble in any way they could, knowing they’d get out of it one way or another. Either way, he adored her.

“’ello, Princess.” Tristan grinned, leaning down to wrap one arm around Lucy, the other resting on the desk to hold himself up. “Mhm, of course. What’s a weekend without a little fun, eh?” He sat himself in the seat next to her, pushing Versace sunglasses up onto his head as his eyes adjusted to the indoor lighting. “What’ve ya got planned?”

Pretty blue eyes took in the dark haired male, leaning into the arm around her with a laugh. Tristan was most definitely her best friend and brother and she’d be lying if she said she wouldn’t be a wing woman. He had never seemed bothered by the innate danger those who hurt her put themselves in, and more often than not, he was first in line to protector when her father’s men couldn’t readily access her. It was nice to know that someone other than Joker cared about her. Though she doubted many people would kill to protect her like her father did. Her last name hadn’t kept Tristan away, and she was glad she had at least one actual friend on this campus. College was so boring for her most days. She grinned at the nickname. “You know you don’t gotta call me Princess. Only dad does that.” It was funny how easily she could talk about her dad with Tristan, but he had never been phased by it, which helped.

Lucy wasn’t entirely convinced Tristan didn’t have some rich parent looking after him as well, and she crossed one leg over the other as she uncovered the notebook, filled with their various plans and pranks and all the details therein. “I was thinking some new art on the library walls.” she mused. “We haven’t tagged anything in a while, and I’ve been watching the library from my dorm room window. I know when all the patrols go by.” she mused, grinning at him.

Double Trouble | ciitylxghts

Lucy wasn’t a victim of bullying, but it didn’t mean she didn’t get into a little trouble from time to time. She still got good grades, but she had a big tendency of pushing the limits when she decided she wanted to pull a prank or four. The little blonde basically had an invisible barrier keeping her off limits; because no one would dare to harm the daughter of the most notorious gangster in modern times. She didn’t flaunt it, but with the last name Quinnzel and the amount of money that showed up after she was accepted, it didn’t take long for rumors to circle. Of course, there was also the missing student who had vanished after he’d been caught trying to force himself on Lucy. Lucy didn’t need to see her father to know Joker was watching over her, but she also said nothing to her mother about it, either. She walked the line between the two and caused as much trouble as she could. So when she was working on a new prank, she glanced up when she saw a shadow over her paper. She draped her arm over the list and tilted her head until she recognized the male. “Well, well, if it isn’t my favorite partner in crime.” she grinned. “Got bored and ready for more trouble?”
