“I’m not…I mean…I don’t know if…,” Alec trailed off and shuffled on his feet. He didn’t know if he would become Head of the Institute, but it was who he’d been raised to be. “I try. Thank you for noticing.” He worried that this marriage would change his plans for the future, but he hoped that it wouldn’t. If anything, them getting married was supposed to make things better for everyone. Alec shrugged. “He’s a bit of a troublemaker, sure, but he’s my parabatai and I’d do anything for him.” Jace was a soulmate in a way that who he fell in love with wouldn’t be. Alec wondered if it was possible he’d ever feel like Magnus was a soulmate since they’d been arranged to wed, but he wasn’t going to think about that too much. He nodded understandingly and then said, “I appreciate that, Magnus. We can take care of each other.” That was what marriage was, wasn’t it? He didn’t see it much with his parents, but he didn’t want to be like his parents.

“Oh I trust you. Anything except for perhaps the pizza here is better anywhere else.” He, Jace and Isabelle often went out and tried a bunch of different food when they weren’t on mission. Pizza was one of his favorites. “Yeah?” Alec said, eyes lighting up more with interest. “That’ll make honeymoon travel so much easier, huh?” He didn’t know if they were going to go on a honeymoon, but he hoped that they would. Alec took Magnus’s hand and once they portaled there, he stepped onto the ground feet a little wobbly as he did so. “Sorry,” Alec said with flushed cheeks. “I’ve not portaled much. I guess it’ll take some getting used to.” He noticed that Magnus had no problem with the portal, but holding onto his hand had helped. And then Alec was looking around and he looked around, complete awe showed on his face. “Woah, it looks like something out of a book.”

Magnus smiled softly. “Alexander, you will be Head of the Institute. IT’s a job the Clave gives to few families. The Lightwoods have done well, there’s no need to think they would suddenly change their mind.” He explained. And he knew the Clave. What better way to ensure a peace than having the High Warlock married to the Head of the Institute? Magnus would be able to stand as a much more neutral third party if the Shadow world cabinet were to be created again. He would be allowed to speak on behalf of all the warlocks as well as ease tensions, which the seelies were good at. He chuckled a little. :He’s a good soldier, if a little reckless. It reminds me of a few shadowhunters I once new.” Seeing Alec relax at least a little made Magnus move a little closer, and he ran a hand through Alec’s hair. “I think that’s a good place to start next. We’ve gotten along just fine the last few weeks.” And Magnus would not admit to wondering how the wedding would go; he couldn’t take on a wedded union rune, unless they found a way to make it happen, which made Magnus a little lightheaded with giddiness at the thought. What was it that drew him in to Alec so powerfully?

“Oh no, my love. Authentic Italian pizza, stone cooked and fresh, with some red wine or champagne? Nothing beats that.” Magnus teased. He smiled at the word honeymoon. “If they allow you more than a day or two, we’ll travel all over. Except Peru; I’m unfortunately banned from there for life.” he laughed a little. “Anywhere else, and we’ll go and take as man pictures and see as many sites as possible.” he promised. He held onto Alec’s hand a little tighter, chuckling. “It does take some time. But don’t worry, I get the feeling you’ll do fine. Most getting insanely ill, but you’re still standing pretty well on your own.” He grinned at him, squeezing his hand a little. He looked around and nodded. “Mmm, yes. Books and pictures do it enough justice to get an idea, but wait until you can see it all in person. And the restaurant has a beautiful view of the tower.”

“You can still stay there sometimes anyway. We’ll be married soon enough and they’ll just have to accept it whether or not they like it.” And there was also the fact that he wasn’t going to let anyone talk down to Magnus. He would put his foot down on that the moment that it happened. His lips curled up in a smile at Magnus’s comment and he nodded in agreement. He’d been all ready to not want anything to do with the man that he was engaged to, but it turned out that he wasn’t that bad after all. “There’s no reason for her to be worried. I think we’ll do just fine. We’ve been alright so far. And yes, I will. Though no promises on Jace, sometimes he barges in without any announcement, though I’ll warn him not to.” The loft wasn’t that bad, though he decided not to comment it. His cheeks flushed and he looked away from him, his hands fidgeted at his sides. “Well, thank you anyway.”

“Mmm….gelato. We’ll have to get some of that too.” He glanced over at him and happened to notice how close Magnus was standing. Alec wanted to kiss him too, but he stepped back to give them some space. “So, Italy, then. Can you open up a portal from here?” He hoped that he didn’t sound like he was asking for a portal. That was something he would try not to do too often. “We’ll have to take pictures. Izzy is going to be asking for you to take her there next.” He brought up his siblings so much because he cared about them, they were a part of his life and he’d do anything for them. Magnus was going to be added to that list of people he cared about too and he would take care of him as well. The warlock giving him the potion was so strange to him, because Alec was used to taking care of people, not the other way around. “What time will it be in Italy when we get there?” Alec asked curiously. “I guess there will be restaurants open at any time of the day, right?”

Magnus looked up, eyes soft as he watched Alec. He was definitely falling in love with this shadowhunter, and he couldn’t hide that fact. But he didn’t want to scare Alec, so he didn’t say anything. “As the future Head of the Institute, you certainly have a leader’s heart. It’s admirable.” he chose to say instead, smiling quietly for a moment. “Ah, yes, the wondrous Jace Wayland. I’ve heard the stories. Must be hard on you from time to time, being his parabatai.” HE shrugged a little. “I just prefer to keep my company relatively comfortable and a mess is only necessary when I have to use a lot of magic for one reason or another.” He paused as he saw Alec’s hands fidgeting and reached to take one. “I’m always going to take care of you if I can, Alexander. Not because I have to, because I want to.” he explained.

“Trust me, gelato in New York is nothing compared to authentic Italian gelato.” he assured, glancing away when Alec stepped back and giving a grin. “Darling, I can open up a portal anywhere in the city if I wanted.” he grinned, waving his hands for a moment before the portal opened, the scene on the other side a darker nighttime than New York currently was, lights and people walking around. “All the pictures you want.” he promised, holding out his hand. “Shall we?”

“Yes, it’ll definitely be something to get used to,” Alec said as he looked around the loft. The loft was as amazing as the man that was standing before him. He lifted a brow. “My mother thought you cursed me? How ridiculous. You tell me if she bothers you again, alright?” He gave a small chuckle at the mention of Ragnor and hoped that he would get to meet Magnus’s closest friends. “I had wondered where it went. Thank you. I really you appreciate you sharing your place with me. I’ll have to remember to come over here more often.” After having grown up in the Institute, there really weren’t too many other places that he went to. He nodded in understanding and then his cheeks warmed a little as Magnus held out the potion. “Thank you. You didn’t have to go through all of that trouble for me, but I appreciate it.” He made a mental note of the dosage and carefully pocketed it. “Anywhere? You really mean that?” He put on a thoughtful face for a moment before he said, “I have always wanted to try some authentic Italian pizza,” he said quietly. “I mean, unless that’s not something you like, we can go somewhere else.”

Magnus chuckled. “I hope in time, it gets easier. I would offer to stay at the Institute from time to time, but I know not a lot of the other nephilim have such…open hearts, about this arrangement.” He explained. “Although lately it’s felt much less like an arrangement,” he admitted, pointing a little towards Alec with a smile. “Oh, one protective mother is easily handled. I don’t have to do much, we just give her time and she’ll be fine. She’s just worried this won’t work. We’ll prove her wrong.” he assured. HE smiled at Alec, helpless to the happiness the younger man always made him feel. “My place is always open o you, Alexander. If you plan to bring friends, let me know so I can keep the loft relatively clean. If I’ve been days without a break, the loft is usually much worse than this.” he admitted with a chuckle. “Of course I did, though it wasn’t any trouble. You’re my fiance, I’m allowed to take care of you. Besides, a potion to help with allergies is simple compared to some of the other things I’ve been asked to make in my life.” A shrug moved his shoulders as he wathed Alec, nodding. “Anywhere you want.” he promised. Hearing the option, he grinned. “Authentic Italian anything is amazing. Especially pizza and gelato.” he answered, leaning in a little closer, wanting to kiss the other but not wanting to scare Alec. “ANd most definitely when you have someone to share it with.”
