“The stories said that the bar had been bombed, hit in an attack, blown to smithereens and that Steve had sat in the middle of it all and mourned, but at this moment, looking into red rimmed eyes, a jaw clenched tight, Tony wondered if the bar hadn’t been bombed at all. Maybe Steve had destroyed it.” OHMYGODWHYYYYYYYYYYY. I will never be able to watch CATFA and watch that scene the same ever again. *sobs* I wasn’t ready for this when I got home but it’s as amazing as ever.

It sort of ruins that scene is CATFA right? I always thought that Bucky’s disappearance was sort of handled in a read between the lines kind of way? Like yes, obvs Steve is sad and he mentions that he can’t get drunk anymore, but its treated like “here we have our two minutes of grieving scene, move on, there’s more story to tell”.

((And honestly I think its one of the reasons why so much of the (movie watching) fandom had such a hard time with CATWS and more importantly, CACW because for alot of people it was like, Wait, WHY is Steve freaking out over Bucky? We never really get to see that intense friendship in the movies that is present in the comics, and while CACW hints at it more, it still seemed to me like the MCU got to CACW and was like oh shit, I forgot they are supposed to be best friends we have to come up with a believable reason for Steve to turn his back on the team to save Bucky.))

Anyway, that short scene always bothered me and when I was re-watching the movie a few weeks back trying to figure out how to insert Tony into that particular scene I just thought, What if Steve had destroyed the bar? Like sure, maybe its a sentimental thing, he’s sitting in the bar where they had drank and had fun, but there are a thousand places like that he could have chosen to sit and mourn Bucky, why is he sitting in a destroyed bar and it was just like OH MY GOD WHAT IF HE DESTROYED IT.

We all know Steve is capable of fucking some shit up, and even when he just gets a little intense while boxing he’s destroying those huge bags, so how much worse would it all have been when its his best friend that is gone?

It both ruins that scene as much as it makes it so much better. Bringing over things from the comics has been a bit lacking in some things, and I think maybe that lack of bringing that intense friendship over is part of why the mcu had such a literal fan war over CACW. It’s heartbreaking that they never really gave us Steve grieving in CATFA, they just kind of made it seem like his grief was throwing himself into the mission and ignoring everything else. And while I’m sure Bucky’s death was a factor for that, Steve is multifaceted, and if anything else, you capture that every single time you write him. You capture the little things that bring him to life, like with everyone you write, and even as much as this story hurts, it’s always worth it.

I am curious to know if/when Steve figures out Tony is the same Tony from way back then. Cuz he’s just about lost everyone and I don’t know if I want to laugh, cry or both if or when he realizes it’s the same Tony.

Ive had a few specific scenes written out since I first started rough drafting this fic, and the scene where Steve realizes that Tony is TONY and the reasons why he didn’t realize it before— oh man that scene is gorgeous

I can’t wait. It’s going to be awesome, I know (you wrote it, why would it ever not be?). All the good vibes to help keep you’re words flowing! 💙

Dr. Seuss “Oh the Places You’ll Go”

So, the past two days at school, I have been reading “Oh the Places You’ll Go” to all my students. I have 9th – 11th graders. I’ve been reading it because I wanted them to understand, everyone has a journey to make but not everyone will go to the same places and the same time or in the same ways. That sometimes you’ll be alone and sometimes you’ll get into a slump but that you can still finish your journey because everyone’s journey is different but eventually we all get to the end. They’ve all enjoyed it a lot. Yay!

“Do you maybe just want to… spend the night?” Seth questioned, wringing his hands.

Malika paused and turned to look at him, giving a quiet little smile. She waited a moment before walking back to him, leaning in to kiss him. “Since the first time you kissed me.” She admitted. “My silent protector.” She knew her family had her guards older, but Seth was the only one in the family close enough to her age and when they’d first gotten together, it uad been a secret. Until someone had tried to drug her and ended up missing a hand. “I’ll have to borrow a shirt, though.” She teased with a smile.

Wtf bats swim

Omfg

Here’s another little-known bat fact:

Orphaned baby bats are often swaddled tightly like teeny burritos to mimic being cuddled by mom and help ease separation anxiety.

They also seem to find pacifiers soothing.

I’m pretty sure I’ve posted on this before, but there’s always someone who hasn’t heard about this before. Plus, I’ll happily take any excuse I can to post cute baby animal pics (especially when they’re wrapped like tiny furry burritos) 🙂
